Joint Statement on Circuit Merger April 2024
The Circuit Leadership Teams of Bromley and Orpington and Chislehurst
Circuits are pleased to announce that the April meeting of the London District
Methodist Synod agreed to their proposed merger. Therefore the two
Circuits will join together on 1st September 2024 to form the Widmore
Circuit.
Work is ongoing to prepare for the merger and as we have previously outlined,
from September ministerial responsibilities will change to the following
arrangement:
Rev’d Duncan MacBean – lead Superintendent, Beckenham, New Eltham and
Emmanuel
Rev’d Karen George – co-Superintendent, Bromley, Bromley Common
Rev’d Robert Selvakumar – Orpington, Petts Wood, Chelsfield
Rev’d Hannah Faal-Heim – Freeman Ghanaian, Chislehurst, Mottingham
Deacon Laura MacBean – support for community café projects, development
of SEND and memory worship, and teaching and training across the Circuit.
Everyone is warmly invited to join together on Sunday 1st September 2024 at
10.30am for a special Circuit service at Farrington’s school to mark the
inauguration of the new Widmore Circuit and the welcome of Rev Hannah
Faal-Heim. The preacher at the service will be Rev Dr Jonathan Dean, the new
London Methodist District Chair. Please make a note of this date and note
there will be no other services in the Circuit on this day. The service will be
followed by refreshments and the chance to meet new friends.
Please keep the Circuit stewards, staff and churches in your prayers as we
continue to work together and prepare for September. Thank you.
